This comes after Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, gave a rare public sermon in Tehran on Friday, vowing that Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza will re-emerge strongly with new leaders, and defending the “legal and legitimate” ballistic missile attack on Israel this week.Araghchi has been making a round of diplomatic calls, including to European foreign ministers, insisting that Iran was not seeking escalation and claiming that, unlike Israeli attacks in Lebanon, Iran’s targets had been strictly military and not civilian.
